Before Meeting with Mike
- Elevated Blood Sugar – an average of 208 mg/dl and A1c – 9.8%
- Felt her active lifestyle and carb-conscious meals were not enough to manage her blood sugar levels
- Wanted to learn more about her condition so she could take more control over her health and enhance her own outcomes
- Felt unheard and dismissed by her primary care physician
- Wasn’t seeing progress with the current course of action
Today*
- Average blood glucose 140 mg/d and A1c – 7.6%
- Advocated for medication change to GLP1 that aligned with goals after speaking with CDCES
- Learned how to interpret continuous glucose monitor trends and use that information for meal decisions and exercise timing
- Feels empowered and confident when speaking with her doctors
- Found medication options that align with goals of lowering blood glucose & weight loss without additional insulin injections
*Individual results vary.

A Proud Provider
I’m so happy to have connected with Tracy. My experience as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist* (CDCES) is exactly what she needed to feel empowered when it came to managing her diabetes. After reviewing and discussing the standards of diabetes care in our regularly scheduled discussions, she displayed immense courage when advocating for a medication change to her doctor.
It can be difficult to have an open dialogue with your primary healthcare providers about challenges and frustrations. I’m happy Tracy felt comfortable sharing her challenges with me so we could address them together and work as a team when it came to conversations with her Primary Care Physician.
One of the reasons I love being a diabetes educator is the consistent conversations that lead to trust. Being the source of day-to-day support fills the void between yearly doctor’s appointments, ensuring individuals don’t feel left to navigate their health management alone.
